Place of Rest
Place of Rest is a relaxing album written to fall asleep to. Created with sleep in mind, the album follows a 90-minute sleep cycle. In the full album there is a continuous mix version without breaks between tracks.
The music was composed, performed, recorded, and mixed by Tim Corpus. Recorded at his home studio outside of Chicago, the project was done entirely in-house. The soundscapes were created with synthesizers, cello, guitar, and percussion instruments.

About the Music
Deep Roots: The album opens with a textural, timeless world where melodies, harmonies, and rhythms float without clear definition. Built from layered, organic improvisations, this track invites listeners to forget the day and plant their roots for deep relaxation.
4-7-8: Inspired directly by the 4-7-8 breathing technique popularized by Dr. Andrew Weil, this movement structurally guides the listener’s respiration. The music actively paces the breath before settling into a soft, regular rhythm that melts away residual tension and fades gently into sleep.
Through the Window: Sometimes sleep feels far away. You’re laying awake and it feels like you’ll never fall asleep. This track imagines sleep to be an escape, like climbing through a window, moving away from the distractions of the day. After the listener has calmed their breathing through the previous track, they climb out the window, into an expansive, soft dreamscape. A welcoming and relaxing environment.
An Ocean: Emulating the weightless sensation of floating, this track captures the transition into the deeper stages of the sleep cycle. The air softens, muscles completely relax, and the body weightlessly drifts as autonomic systems slow down.
Delta: Reaching the ultimate destination of deep sleep, the album’s tuning shifts entirely to the resonant frequency of 432Hz. Parallel synthesis drones float through an expansive, highly reverberant space, accompanied by deep rolling bass drums and pink noise specifically engineered to block out worldly distractions.
