The World Premiere of Ending the War on My Body

This past week I was out in New York City for the incredible world premiere of “Ending the War on My Body”.

It was amazing to finally sit in rehearsals and see the dances set to my music. I composed over an hour of music for the show and the dances worked flawlessly with the music. Working with Katherine McClintic over the last several months was such a joy.

I had been on the project since February 2022 but I didn’t get to start writing for the films or dances until the end of July 2022 when film production was finished. I started working on the dances in August/September.
It was a quick turnaround on all of the music, but also such a heartfelt project. The poetry by Katherine is incredibly evocative and the subject matter serious. I really wanted to take my time to get the music right and support the larger project in the right way.

This was the first time I got to be back in NYC since the performance of Breath at Carnegie Hall back in 2016. With a week of 70 degree weather, I can’t tell you how lovely it was to be back!
In the end I’m so proud with how this music and the whole show came out and I can’t wait for audiences to see / hear it more. We’ll be announcing more about the soundtrack release in coming weeks.
