Spooky Video Game Jam Midwest 2020 & Silence Speaks
This past weekend I decided to take part of the 2020 Spooky Game Jam Midwest held by the IGDA. It was a great opportunity to meet some new folks and have some fun.
In a surprise turn of events, there were a lot of sound people who turned out for this event. So while a few didn’t have a game to join, I became the lead developer (I know, I was shocked too) and created a game along with them. It was a great template (Sunken Grounds) and opportunity to talk sound design with new friends. You can view that fun little project here. I haven’t worked in Unity since the spring, so it was fun to get back into the game design side of things and put together some work. I was surprised how much I remembered as it all came back to me. This definitely reminded me of the fun I had producing scenes like Race Day and the Viking Village.
The other game I composed music for was Silence Speaks. This dev team was great to work with and the final project turned out nicely. You can watch the full review all the games here!
I’m really proud of how the music came out in such a short time period. Like I said, I was developing a whole game for another group, but had to find the time to crank out full orchestra score. I was honored that all of the IGDA reviewing panel praised the music. So thanks!
You can listen to the tracks I made last weekend right here!
