Alphabet
Alphabet is a personal journey, written over four years, but recorded, crafted, and released in 2024. Alphabet reflects a broad spectrum of emotions and stories, from peace, celebration, and loss. Each track, correlating to the alphabet, was recorded and produced in Chicago by me to offer a unique sound that both pushes boundaries and resonates with timeless emotions.
Album Highlights:
- W is for Waves: The album kicks off with a trance-like minimalist journey featuring piano, marimba, and synthesizers. This composition was premiered live at New Music Chicago’s Impromptu Fest 2023.
- Collaborations: Again collaborating with producer and pianist Alyssa Arrigo, the album brings growth to our musical language and collaborative efforts after my previous album MMXX.
The first track I composed was “A is for Angela” the night my sister gave birth to her son. My sister has always been an important influence and mentor in my life. Also on the album is a track called “J is for Jane” which was written for my aunt Jane who passed away in the spring of 2024, before the album was released.

I composed “J is for Jane” quickly after returning home from the funeral. She was a pianist herself and very involved in her church choir, as well as singing in professional choirs. I wanted to compose a piece that had the vertical stacking of chords like a chorus, but remained textural on the piano. The piano has such a nostalgic sound to it, and it was a proper setting as she gave me my first piano lessons when I was very little.
W is for Waves
W is for Waves has been a hit on the album. It was my friend and pianist Alyssa Arrigo, who was also a producer on MMXX, who pointed out that the album need to kick off with a bang.
We’ve performed W is for Waves lives multiple times and it’s quite a challenge with the counting. You can see more about the piece and the sheet music here.
LIVE Listening Party
You can listen and watch the live listening party from the evening before the album was released.
