Charlotte New Music Festival 2021: Working with Beo String Quartet

It’s been several years since I composed my first three string quartets. The album Breath came out in 2014 which featured my first and second quartets. I wrote those in Hartford, CT back to back and it was a thrill to hear them performed and recorded by the Grant Street String Quartet.

I wrote my third string quartet some time in 2016, but it has never been performed. A much more ethereal piece, the music is much shorter and more textural than the first quartet. Now, after all these years I am so excited to have the opportunity to compose for classical string quartet again.

I am thrilled to announce that I’ll be part of the 2021 Charlotte New Music Festival working with Beo String Quartet.

Lately my compositions have been for video games, movies, and my upcoming album MMXX. But I am seriously so excited to write for live performance in a more “classical” arena again. Many thanks to the Charlotte New Music Festival for choosing to work with me. The performance will be live and online in July 2021!

Tim Corpus is a composer with a genuine lyric impulse. He writes music that is at the same time challenging and appealing - which should be the ideal of any composer. He has a wonderful ear for sound and for shape. This is a composer with a real and important voice.
